“Hey, that's lame,” you might think. So called African wood and then they give it such a name. We assure you that this is not the case. This is the Swahili name of the African Blackwood tree. Also called Grenadille Nigra. In Latin Dalbergia melanoxylon. Really and truly. A tree from the Central African savannah with almost black wood and a very straight grain, best known here for its use for clarinets and oboes. Our PVC copy has that same look but is considerably easier to work with than the adamantine original which is notorious for its hardness.
